Where did April go?

April was a whirlwind of a month, and March seems to be off to an equally heavy start, but we'll see where things go. It feels like this past month was riddled with death, illness, and misfortune - but at the same time I was shown more of the beauty of life and more of the good in people than I am usually able to see. Classic yin and yang. Through it all, I have tried to practice thankfulness. I have very much to be thankful for.

With all that's been going on, and I won't go into specifics, I feel like I have fallen behind in the little things that I usually try to stay on top of - taking away from rather than adding to the clutter in my studio, going to the gym, cooking during my weekend to have food ready for my work week, listing new items in my shop, etc. I am hoping to soon come to a point where I feel caught up, and I think that that time is coming sooner rather than later. Until then, I will try keep my head above water in this sea of "to do's."

What can those little things matter, you might wonder? So what if weeks worth of dirty laundry are piling up? So what if my level of physical fitness is declining? So what if I can't save a penny? Clearly, there are more important things to tend to!  Well, yes - but also - it is important to "listen" to when you feel overwhelmed. You can't take care of other people to the best of your ability if you aren't taking care of yourself. Easier said than done. 

For me, the challenge is in having down time when I am AWAKE. I know how to be awake and working and productive. I know how to be deep asleep. I have in fact, mastered both of these modes, and in switching between the two at the drop of a hat. Where I fail is in resting while conscious. To practice relaxing while awake, I have started reading in bed before going to sleep, before both literally and figuratively flipping a switch. And on that note, I'm off to read. Or crash. Whichever.

My shop just hit 100+ items for sale!

Hello Taibi Timers,

I'm having a night of adding new items to my Etsy shop Taibi Time (TaibiTime.com)and I am very pleased to say that I have hit 100+ items! For a long time I have wanted to get into the 100's and it feels good to finally be here, like my shop is legit and not a neglected side project. So, have a look at the shop and check back soon. Moving right along...

Hello Taibi Timers,

No huge news here, just moving further along in the same direction. Slowly. But surely. As my mother says, "Poco a poco, se va lejos." This means, "Little by little, one goes far." I'm still clearing out my apartment, still listing more items in my Etsy Shop (TaibiTime.com), still planning my wedding - basically just trying to be a better version of myself and trying to get things done. And relax. It's important to remember to relax. RELAX!!

This past Sunday I actually took a rare weekend day off from retailing to go wedding venue hunting with my almost-husband Liam. We went to a park that we had high hopes for and it turned out that we weren't that into it...but I did get this one good picture out of the experience :

We also went to a place called Brooklyn Farmacy where - get this - they have vegan maple egg creams!!! It's got a lot of vintage charm, and here's a pic I took of a scale/horoscope-giver-machine that they have there :

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day, Taibi Timers!

Single or not, I hope that your day is full of love. There's a lot of love in the world, and a good deal of that is just for YOU. Don't forget to give some love too! 

In case you're wondering what I'm doing for Valentine's Day, me and my almost husband Liam are going to go to dinner at one of our favorite vegan restaurants. We may even squeeze in a movie before-hand, since our reservation isn't until a bit later. We've both been working so much lately and we're pretty pooped, so it will be a quiet evening.

I've been very busy working on my Etsy shop and I've just added - for the first time ever - vintage clothing and accessories! Have a look and see if there's something you can't live without ;)

Good evening, internet. 

Today is Wednesday, but it is my "Monday." Not a bad day, as far as Mondays go. I took my darling peanut to school, had a good day at the shop assisting lovely people like yourself, and came home to my kittens and sweet man for soup/wine/trail mix and Etsy lisitngs! Second order of business : Did you know that I have a clutter problem? Well, I do. And I always have. This is the year when it will all change, and you get to bear witness to the transformation. How do I know that my hoarding behavior will change this year? I am finally sick ENOUGH of the stress that is caused by living with too much stuff. Below is a display of contrast - some awful looking parts of my apartment, and some of the really nice looking parts of my apartment. I consider these all to be "before" photos. I had a really productive day of clearing out and I'm hoping to make my whole place look as nice as the nicer scenes below. More clearing out and "after" photos to come!

I hope you had a healthy, happy, sparkly holiday season. I'm back in Brooklyn from a two week trip to New Zealand with my almost-husband Liam. We had a blast, and now it's time to get back to work.
